Family law covers a broad range of litigation areas outside divorce and child custody or child support matters. Below are just some of the other issues The Law Office of Garrett C. Higley has breadth of knowledge and depth of experience with.
Protective Orders
If domestic family violence has occurred or is likely to occur in the future or there are allegations of substance abuse or mental health issues that endanger the life of another family member or child in the household, a Protective Order may be issued. Protective Orders may limit or suspend contact with the victim, other members of the household and the child(ren), require drug/alcohol rehabilitation services or mandate visits with a mental health professional. The court will try to set a hearing to approve a protective order within fourteen (14) days of the alleged incident, so call an experienced family law attorney as soon as possible. If you or your child are in need of a Protective Order, The Law Office of Garrett C. Higley can help.
